You do not see a quoteboard -- you see a blank grey screen


This indicates that Sun Java is not enabled for your browser.

Resolution:

  1. First, close your browser.

  2. Based on your operating system, perform the following steps:

Windows 95/98/NT/2000:

  • Click Start on your task bar, then Settings, and then Control Panel.

Windows XP:

  • Click Start on your task bar, and then Control Panel.

  • If your Control Panel view asks you to "Pick a Category", click the Switch to Classic View link on the left side of your screen. Classic View layout is shown here:


  1. Find the Java applet icon, and double-click it to open.
     


  2. Open the Advanced tab, and click on the + sign next to Default Java for browsers. You should see a screen like this:

    NOTE: Your system may alternately show <APPLET> tag support. Also, some older versions of the Java Control Panel will show a "Browser" tab instead of an "Advanced" tab.



  3. Check the browser type you are using (make sure the check mark is visible), then click OK.

  4. Open a new browser window, and log in to QuotePlus. If you still have problems seeing quotes, please contact our Customer Support group at (800) 238-5814 or (312) 554-8122.


You see a red X in place of quotes or charts in the application


This means you do not have any version of Java installed on your computer.

Resolution: Install Java.

  • PC users, go to the Sun Java plug-in website, and install the free version of Java.

  • Mac OS users, download Java from the Apple website.

  • When the install is done, reboot your computer.

  • Log into QuotePlus. If you still have problems seeing quotes, please contact our Customer Support group at (800) 238-5814 or (312) 554-8122.


You can see the quoteboard, but the prices are blank or the prices are not updating.


This symptom may indicate your firewall is blocking the application.

Resolution: Change your connection mode until you find the one your firewall accepts.

  1. Log in to QuotePlus.

  2. Click the Preferences button at the top of the application.

  3. Under Connection Mode, change from UDP Streaming Mode to TCP Streaming Mode. (UDP Streaming Mode is the fastest mode to deliver data to the application.)

  4. If that connection mode does not work, repeat Steps 2-3, but change to HTTP Streaming Mode.

  5. If that connection mode does not work, repeat Steps 2-3, but change to HTTP Refreshing Mode as a last option. Please note that this method does NOT stream data, but delivers data every 5 seconds in snapshot mode.
